Description: Porthole is an international consumer cruise publication featuring expertly written, sophisticated cruise and travel editorial for savvy consumers worldwide. Seasoned travel writers feature their stories, opinions, tips, and insights into the places they go and adventures they experience while cruising.
The publisher of the magazine wanted to use the media to promote the media - in this case, his high glossy publication.
Goal: Generate coverage in a diverse group of publications to encourage readership and advertising in the cruise publication.
Success: By positioning Porthole Magazine as the de facto publication in the cruise industry, and creating an image for the publication as the place to read everything anyone needs to know about cruising, Boardroom Communications was able to make other media sit up and take notice. The Wall Street Journal spoke of Porthole in its travel pages, as did other national publications such as USA Today and travel trades.
Throughout the country, we encouraged writers and reporters to look toward Porthole as a resource and writers at the Chicago Tribune, Atlanta Constitution, Miami Herald, Palm Beach Post, South Florida Sun-Sentinel and others turned to this publication. Interest in Porthole and in cruising was elevated by the consistent and frequent media coverage.
