Florida PR and legal marketing expert leads discussion
on getting lawyers in the news

MIAMI, Fla. - Don Silver, Chief Operating Officer of Boardroom Communications, a full service Florida public relations agency focusing on media relations, integrated online and traditional marketing, together with media consultant Charles Jones, addressed 50 legal marketers along with three journalists to discuss the changing media landscape in South Florida.

The roundtable session addressed the importance of properly assessing and targeting attorney and law firm news with traditional media outlets such as daily newspapers, business tabloids, blogs and wire services. The consensus was that there are fewer journalists to pitch, making it more and more challenging to get news in print.

Journalist suggestions ranged from keeping pitches brief and to the point, being familiar with the publications you pitch and the appropriate sections to target to the importance of following editorial calendars.

Silver emphasized the concept of generating more yield out of one piece of news using press releases, blog posts, opinion pieces, byline articles, e-newsletters, among others.

The program, held at Bilzin Sumberg was sponsored by the Daily Business Review, a leading South Florida paper focused on law, real estate and banking.
